MY FAVE RAVES 2006
Current mood: working
Category: Music

Hi folks,

These are my most spinned records this year. As you can imagine a few discs came out long before 2006! OK, here they are ... in no particular order.

- The low frequency in stereo / The low frequency in stereo (rec90)

- Explosions in the sky, Daniel Lanois, David Thorn / Friday night lights OST (Universal)

- Delaware / Lost in the beauty of innocence (Strange Ways)

- Ulrich Schnauss / Upcoming studio album 2007 (Domino USA)

- Eric Johnson / Bloom (Favored Nations)

- The Church / Uninvited like the clouds (Cooking Vinyl)

- Galaxie 500 / Peel Sessions (Rhino)

- Malory / Outerbeats (Supermodern Music)

- Hüsker Dü / Warehouse: Songs and stories (Warner)

- Deutsche Weihnachtsglocken / Compilation (B.T.Music)

- Sophia / Technology won't save us (City Slang)

My best wishes for a good and healty 2007!!!

Jerome

 Hüsker Dü / Warehouse: Songs and stories (Warner) > A local rock band from the Minneapolis area. (circa 80's)

A very diverse collection... 8)

Jerome on the Church: Tranquillity (The Church, 1998) Pure beauty ! A song that I listen to on a day where everything goes wrong. The Church is another all time favourite group … they deserve a lot more than they get these days!!

Hüsker Dü...one of my all-time fave bands (although I would rank their final album "Warehouse.." as the poorest, the early HC stuff is better like "Everything falls apart" or "Zen Arcade")

I think I need to check them out.
I'm only familiar with Marty Willson-Piper's solo work, and his work with All About Eve (which, by the way, is one hell of a band).

The Best of is a good place to start . I still think they lost their way of late.

Do you know any good "proper" albums?
I don't really care for compilations (...for some reason!)

Starfish, Remote Luxury, Heyday, Gold Afternoon Fix, Or their latest Uninvited Like the Clouds. A lot of fans love the album Priest = Aura which I sadly don't have and haven't heard it. They are a good band and have written some of the best songs in recent years. There are a helluva lot of albums I don't know though as they seem to be difficult to get.
