Pop deux : émission du 10 mars 1973

Post by ricochetp2 »

Hello All
Just downloaded a video from http://www.ina.fr which has 11 minutes of Tangerine Dream playing music to a live audience along with other artist (Klaus Schulze, Kraftwork). The music they are playing is like Reims 1974 concert. The quality of the recording is very good. Does anyone know anything about this concert.

Yes, its from 15.2.73 'Theatre de L' Ouest', Paris (with Ash Ra Tempel and Klaus Schulze), apparently it was a very well attended gig and several hundred fans had to be turned away (I vaguely remember TD saying it was 500...I should check really). It got a good three page write up in the German press, together with several colour photos of TD onstage. photos from the same gig (but this time with KS and ART) were later used in a centre-fold photo montage, with Peter Baumann listed under his full name: Hans-Peter Baumann.

TD were also to play on 16th in the 'Western Theatre' as part of the same festival

Klaus Schulze almost didn't make the gig at all, as his car broke down, so TD gave him a lift the venue. Some footage of the gig shows Peter and Chris running their voices through their synths (probably their EMS Synthi-A's /AKS's to modulate them). I couldn't download the whole clip, so I'm going by the short excerpt (from Spanish TV) on youtube

Approx list of 1973 tour dates:

15.2.73 'Theatre de L' Ouest', Paris (with Ash Ra Tempel and Klaus Schulze)
16.2.73 'Theatre de L' Ouest' Paris ('Western Theatre')
07.4.73 'Festhalle' (Wankdorf) Bern, Switzerland. 6PM (with Ash Ra Tempel and Jane)
20.5.73 'Ponts de Ce', Open Air Festival
03.7.73 Lyon ?
22.8.73 Paris (with Edgar Froese, Chris Franke & Klaus Schulze)
24.8.73 La Rochelle, (in an inflated warm air tent)
25.8.73 'L'Arc en Ciel' (The Rainbow) Roanne.
27.8.73 'Blauer See' (Blue Lake) Ratingen,
29.11.73 Berlin, (RIAS - FM) 'Deutsch-Rock - Musikportraits von der Inlandszene' ('German Rock - music portraits from the local scene'), Deutschlandhalle ('Germany Hall')?
Mönchengladbach, Germany Gymnasium

I downloaded it too. It cost six euros (2 Euro's for 48 hours rental) and doesn't allow a conversion to a more handy format such as VCD or DVD, but it was definately worth the trouble to get.
It comes with a tricky .divx file extension and you might also need to install the application called DivX Player 6.6.0.

Top-notch sound and picture quality, TD did a stunning show. Perhaps it's the best sounding recording of TD live from 1973.
As I couldn't convert it to (s)vcd, I did the next best thing and recorded the 25 minutes of music (KW, TD, Guru Guru and KS) onto a CDR.

If you can mangage to download the tv-show, from the French site, it's definetely worth the money. :)

Right NOW there's a program called "Die Wilden Seventies" on the German TV station 'Phoenix'. A clip from the 1973 Paris show, as mentioned above was featured, plus a short interview segment with Jim Rakete.

A re-run is tomorrow at 16:15 CET
