50 pages in on the train from Edinburgh and I gave up - bored the aris' off me. Too much in depth description for my tatse. I'm clearly a pleb. Maybe in 20 years I'll have another go.
I did the same over 30 years ago. I think I was going for the "studious and intesting"-look to get the girls. Didn't work.
hmmm - in my experience the girls will go for a thick stack of pages as long as each begins "I promise to pay the bearer on demand..."
imho

The Summer Game - Gideon Haigh
A book about Australian cricket in the 50s/60s. One of the best cricket books I've read. Excellent.

Just finished King Lear - as you may know this tragedy closes with corspes everywhere and Edgar, son of Gloucester, poised to become King although Shakespeare left the ending ambiguous

Personally I'm in little doubt

Yeh... I'm sure I read somewhere that "Edgar was King".

Maybe Colin can confirm this?

Bob Dylan - Chronicles Vol 1

Really surprised how good this book is. Dylan's writing is superb.

I am reading (and have soon finished) Kevin J. Anderson - The Edge of the World. First in a new trilogy from this great sci-fi/fantasy author. There is also released an original companion CD called Roswell Six - Beyond the Horizon, featuring some of the best known names in progressive rock. Lyrics written by Anderson. Story follows one of the plot lines from the book. A unique project!
