I am extremely saddened by the sudden death of Tom Petty. One of the coolest rock stars ever.
He was also so full of emotion. Something that is represented in the beautiful song Alright For Now. Have a good travel, Tom!

Goodnight baby, sleep tight my love
May God watch over you from above
Tomorrow I'm workin' what would I do
I'd be lost and lonely if not for you

So close your eyes
We're alright for now

I've spent my life travelin'
Spent my life free
I could not repay all you've done for me

So sleep tight baby
Unfurrow your brow
And know I love you
We're alright for now
We're alright for now

:( Yes, very sad to hear that this morning. Loved TP from the seventies and he made some wonderful music. Another big talent leaves us for a better place. R.I.P. Mr Petty. :(

Been a terrible few years with many of my music heroes passing on.

Like a lot of Tom's music and have a couple of albums. That Freefalling track and the wonderful "Stop Dragging my Heart Around" with the s.ex goddess Stevie Nicks are iconic, magnificent, tunes.

RIP Tom , sad times.

RIP

Into The Great Wide Open from 1991 was actually one of the first CDs I bought. Came to think of it, I don't think I have it anymore. I also like some of his 80s songs like Free Fallin (89) and Don't Come Around Here Now More (85).

I haven't really followed his career since the early 90s though.
