"Kamikaze" - the movie

Post by bergen-dreamer »

Have any of you seen R.W. Fassbaender's "Kamikaze 1989"?
I see that it's available on DVD from Amazon.de, but it looks like it's without English subtitles. My German is not too good, but I guess I will be buying it anyway...

Colin -
As you might have guessed, it's mainly because of the soundtrack that I'm interested in this film

Btw it's not Fassbinders Movie, it's a movie with Fassbinder acting in it only

You're right about that, it's directed by Wolf Gremm.
It gets a rating of 5.6/10 on IMDb.

If it was by Fassbinder, chances are it would be a much better movie

I saw the movie shortly after I bought the album. The local Blockbuster Video actually had a copy (!). I'm sorry to say, but I really don't remember anything about it except that Fassbinder plays a detective investigating some murders. As I recall, it was just a so-so movie (or else I would remember it better), but it wasn't bad, either. Now that you guys mention it, I'd kind of like to see it again.

I did see this film back in the late 80's. It was quite a weird film with a familiar future/corporations take over everything kinda picture. I too had rented it for the phenomenal sountrack by Edgar. I would be interested in owning it, but would need the subtitles since I am studying French and not German!!

I got 2/3rds of the way thru' the DVD - must finish it off. Reminded me of a camp 1984/Brazil type , which statement bears scrutiny of no intensity whatsoever.
imho

It was on NDR late last night. Hopefully a re-run comes soon, as I noticed it too late (and my TV signal didn't work).
