Zivot je cudo (Life is a Miracle 2004) Directed by Emir Kusturica, mad as a bag of spiders, but brilliant nevertheless.
Audition is very good (especially the 'bag'), but personally I think Dark Water or the Eye are better

I also watched Stalker (A Russian 'SF' film from 1979 Directed by
Andrei Tarkovsky) the other afternoon...now that is a weird film

In one hour the Greek TV Channel 'ANT1' it will show the movie 'Miracle Mile'.
I don't know if this movie is good but the music is excellent.

Saw Mel Gibson's Ransom for the 1st time tonight. ~OK.
But I was struck by bad guy Gary Sinise. If ever there's a live version of Captain Scarlet he's a double for Captain Black...

Watched Shaun of the Dead earlier. Some good gags but not that great IMO.

Last night I watched Lars von Trier's "Manderlay", a really disturbing epic about slavery in the American south.
Stellar perfomance from new star Bryce Dallas Howard, who took over the role of Grace from Nicole Kidman (who played in Dogville, the first part of von Trier's planned "American trilogy").

I'm going to have to checkout the rest of Lars stuff, I really like both series of the Kingdom and Bjork in Dancer in the Dark. Europa wasn't too bad either, certainly very arty

It never lived up to its promise did it? Especially given that excellent cast. I still quite enjoy it nonetheless.
One of the best films I saw in 2006 was 'Y tu Mama Tambien' (And your mother too) - my housemate loves latin America (work takes her there a lot and she read Latin American politics for an MA). I loved seeing everyday Mexico and watching it made me realise how little I know about that country.
Another was 'The Cave of the Yellow Dog', set in Mongolia and a very tender portrait of a genuine Mongolian family living up in the planes for the summer.

A bit thin on characterisation and somewhat stereotypical in places, but a reasonable action movie. Most interesting parts were the shots of Japan.
