Seconds: When your son Jerome joined the band, did that bring you closer together as father and son?

Edgar: No, we never had a normal Father-and-son relationship. As parents we gave him the necessary lessons in life for the first thirteen or fourteen years and then we kicked him out of the house for about five years.

Seconds: At what point did he rejoin the family?

Edgar: He came back into our house again when he wasn't a kid anymore. He was a partner, he was a friend, he was a part of a little social cell. Now, working together in music, I don't have to tell him what to do. He is teaching me and I can teach him. Having the same blood in our circulation makes things a lot easier becuase we feel the same way,

Who the hell did he go to live with at 14 :? out in the forest with GONG
If you read JFs bio on his webpage jeromefroese.com you will read:"....jerome chose to attend a boarding school in Switzerland where he met Zlatco Perica...." So it's obvious that it was more or less Jerome's decision to go away from home. Edgar just expressed it very humorously when he said "we kicked him out of the house..." You have to remember that in the eighties TD were heavily on tour and maybe it was better for Jerome to live a kind of "normal" life in a boarding school I think.

The Glacier Girls demanded we allow him to get a pic with them so my wife took the pic, by the way, that is the P-38 Lightning they dug out of the ice after crash landing on it's way to England in 1942..

Think we may have been to quick to judge that Jerome may / may not be with TD anymore!. Have just received a message from him that 'he is taking a short break from TD'.

This I feel is great news, his new CD is in 'heavy prduction'.

Reassuring news Tim. It's not the first time he's taken a break and releasing an album is labour intensive. Look forward to seeing Jerome again on the anniversary tour.
