Early movie soundtracks

Post by rivrs »

In the WSHU radio interview from 1974 Edgar mentions that T Dream had done soundtracks 10 times for TV by the time of this interview in late 1974:

Marc Gunther: Have you ever thought of making film with this as a soundtrack, or doing soundtrack music?
Edgar Froese: Oh yeah, we did it ten times in Germany for the TV only, you know, but we haven't found a guy who we're interested to make a film and a real connection with the music, you know, that for us at the moment it's impossible cause it's really expensive and we can't pay it, you know, but we would like to do it.

I have been able to verify only 4 of them, and one (Underground) was not made for TV as far as I can tell:

1969 07 11 Auf Scheißer schießt man nicht / Underground (Hans Jürgen Pohland) [1:32:00] IMDb
1971 12 08 Vampira (George Moorse) [45:00] IMDb
1972 04 25 Geradeaus bis zum Morgen (Peter Adam) [1:20:00] IMDb
1973 08 21 Ein für allemal (Peter Adam) [1:39:00] IMDb

There are 3 other titles I have found mentioned, usually with conflicting information. Can anyone here say for sure one way or the other that they did or didn't do the soundtrack for these?

1968 01 23 Der Meteor (Leopold Lindtberg) [1:50:00] IMDb
- Is Der Meteor really just the Jim & Pablo episode called Der Meteor, or did they do a soundtrack for this TV film? Aired Jan 1968, it seems like it might be a bit early.

1969 09 24 Spion unter der Haube (Günter Gräwert) [2:55:00] IMDb
- I have read that there is a live appearance in this. This one seems the most likely to be real.

1972 03 24 Die Melchiors - Das Brandmal (Hermann Leitner) [25:00] IMDb
- The director of Vampira, George Moorse, also directed Brandmale (1983) IMDb which they did the soundtrack for. Is this 1972 TV episode another mistake? Since this series has come out on DVD and no one has mentioned it, I am almost certain this is not true.

So I am still missing a few soundtracks. If Der Meteor and Das Brandmal turn out to be false, that leaves me with 4 TV soundtracks and one feature film. Roughly 5 more titles they worked on.

Does anyone know of any other films / shows they definitely worked on prior to late 1974? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brandmale is a Soundtrack by Edgar Froese for sure. :-)

There is a cdr circulating. Included is two live tracks from Schmoelling as well.

I think Der Meteor is only the Jim & Pablo episode from the 90s:

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my original post, but I am aware that Edgar did the soundtrack for Brandmale (1983). I am wondering if the episode 'Das Brandmal' from the TV series 'Die Melchiors' which aired in 1972 is also done by Edgar / T Dream or if that is a mistake, as I have seen it listed in a few lists.

This is what I suspect, but I still see it in lists with notations saying it is not the Jim and Pablo episode. I am hoping someone who has seen the 1968 episode can verify it.

I think Forbidden was composed after 1974!
