Gravity

Post by Steve C »

Saw this in 3D on Friday in our local cinema in Richmond, Yorkshire.
Superb film, good electronic score to go with it. Naturally, I would have loved for TD to have scored this.

Better than 2001 in my opinion, and that it saying something.

  for me too.

I think Gravity is a very good film, but absolutely not at the level of 2001.
What I would like to see is a 3D version of 2001... THAT would be a kind of perfection !

Thank you BM and TDLudo for bringing me back to my senses! I was getting carried away and I, too, recall seeing 2001 with my parents in 1967 and being spellbound. What I liked about Gravity was the intimate story behind the awesome backdrop, and in particular the amazing 17 minute opening shot. It is not really even fair to compare the 2 films.

Yes, 3D has not really evolved much from the 1950's. I find that the more subtle the use, the more effective it is. Really like the 3D in the Life of Pi and Avatar, and thought it was OK in Gravity but did not add a lot to the film.
