Homage to Edgar Froese

Post by David Ryle »

I don't know if this is appropriate, or in poor taste to do this, but I thought some may find this interesting...

I recently put together a song that sums up a feeling I get when I think of some of Edgar's early solo works. (Epsilon especially) Of course my talent and skill is well beneath calling this an imitation, rather a "thank you" to Froese for his strong influence on my musical tastes and thinking.

The idea behind it came from when I was a teen age youth on a family trip to Europe. In 1971 we flew into Frankfurt and because we were late, missed our hotel reservations. We bought a Volkswagon van and promptly set out southbound on the autobahn. We made it to Heidelberg for sunrise and I remember seeing a big black locomotive roar out of a tunnel on the side of a mountain as we looked over the beautiful old city below.

Needless to say this was a most lasting impression of the lovely German countryside and only part of some strong emotional ties I have with that trip. about 3 years later I heard Phaedra and it stamped the image of Germany in my brain forever. This tune is reminiscent for me.

Other tunes can be heard here (if not completely offended)

The first link didn't work David, but I have listened to some of your other pieces and would suggest you contact Chris (Janus) with regard to getting some of your work played on Tangerine Dream Fan Zone (TDFZ) Radio.

Check out the website. http://tdfanszone.com/

You have some nice music there and I'm sure Chris would be pleased to provide an outlet for it.

Thank you Mick and Chris.

I will put together something for the fan site. What a nice organization! I am impressed by the fund raising efforts too. Good work guys.

The original post music link that I set seemed to be partially broken. The parenthesis at the end messed it up. If you drag the entire link and copy it - including the "(lofi).mps" portion, it should work. The lofi refers to the compression for the internet. For better plays fantastically fidelity go to my website at http://www.myspace.com/kindredlost

Anyway, this is great having some people of like minds to share with. I have been writing electronic rock (for a lack of better nomenclature) since 1979 and have had little feedback due to living in a small north Texas town.

I have been away from music composition for about 10 years and just started back again this year. As I was trained in the fine arts, I have always found a strong attraction to the visual and auditory message that Edgar Froese promotes. He is the Mozart/Dali of our generation.
