Yep - definitely. I was in bed, reading, with headphones on (Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd). My bed began to shake back and forth. Initially I thought it was my house-mate back from the pub (we have bouncy floor-boards), but it got stronger. I took the headphones off, and could hear a mild rumble and saw that my synth racks and angle-poise were all shaking quite violently. Then it stopped and the whole house was eerily silent.

The tremor went on for about 5 or 6 seconds - really weird and quite spooky, and my first experience of an earthquake (who'd have thought it would be in London?!!)

I worked the previous night and got a real tanking so I was dead-to-the-world asleep at the time. Motorhead could have been playing in the room and I wouldn't have woken up.

No injuries fortunately! The worst hit area of the country seems to be Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It's amazing how widespread the tremors were felt though, and how some areas people felt nothing, whereas others felt loads only a few miles away. I suppose geology has a lot to do with it.

Never realised that the Dave Clark Five were so big, 100million records...quite some achievement. Sorry to hear that another rocker from the 60's has gone. That era is starting to feel like a very long time ago now. :(
