in the month that the entire Fopp chain went belly up, it's good to hear that Rough Trade have opened a new shop: Rough Trade East (it's in the East End of London). Good luck lads!

let's hope so, the Talbot Road branch has been going for years.

I seem to remember that I bought all my Mute stuff from them...mainly Can and solo stuff

bm remembers buying damned, damned damned from rt in 76, the back cover had the wrong photo..of eddie and thee ho.t rods


also bought lots of krautrock barmyness....grobbshite er grobbshnittt er oh fuch :arrow:

I remember Green records in Tamworth where i bought a fair bit of early TD from.

Appart from Glasgow & Edinburgh theres only 0ne independent store nearby me. There used to be about ten. Changed days. I could walk into HMV nowadays with 100 notes and walk back out after 10 minutes still holding the 100 notes. Virgin is absolute pish too. Used to be OK about 5 years ago. OK if you like not good music though :wink:

Glasgow seems empty without Fopp now, I mean Avalache and Lost in Music are OK, but they're hardly the same :(

I very much hope that Spillers in Cardiff(oldest record shop in the world) stays alive,apparantly it is being fought over as part of a divorce :roll: its always been a great independent store :arrow:

Just seen HMV have brought Fopp and will run them independantly from the HMV brand. good news
