Best of 2011 for me is TDs "Finnegan's Wake" .... IMO this is Tangerine Dream's best album of the 21st century,and among'st the best of their career.
Enthralling,emotional,inspiring and a feast for the ears,heart and mind .... so many great sounds and textures,it paint's a picture that firmly plant's itself into the mind.
I am hugely impressed by it,Edgar, Thorsten and the band have served up a sonic work of great quality. 8) :D
RIP Edgar. I am going to miss you.

All three of the Sonic Poem Series have been outstanding, but for me it's impossible to rate them up against each other. The best TD music in years IMHO...

Other excellent CDs this year:

Loom EP
Jerome Froese - Nightshade Family + Einzelkind EP
PPM - Metropolis Poetry
Klaus Schulze - LvE 8-10
Triple S - Poles
Robert Schroeder - Esthetique
Emmens & Heij - Sculpture Garden
Ian Boddy & Parallel Worlds - Exit Strategy
Keith Jarrett - Rio
Chick Corea/Stefano Bollani - Orvieto

Been a very good year. I'll have to give this some thought.

I haven't bought much music released this year (been collecting older music used).

The few TD releases of 2011 I have are good of course. One of the highlights for me was the boxset of the first 5 albums of Carly Simon, who's amazing music I found last summer. 8)

Been buying a lot of older music this year also, remasters mainly but also vinyl and other older EM.

So for 2011 albums;

TD Island of the Fay, Angel FROM the West Window, Finnegans Wake, Mona Da Vinci....................love them all...........what a superb year for TD :D
Johannes Schmoelling - time and tide
Loom 1 00 00 1
Triple S - Poles
FAX - Namlook / Montana - Labyrinths

For the first time in my life I have bought very little new prog rock this year. EM has taken over my existence.

Struggling to think of anything else but would have to include;

Jon Anderson - Survival and Other Stories
