I'll be adding some screen grabs from a Pete Namlook DVD, you'll see lots of shots of Pete in his Studio...and greenhouse ;)

So far track 3 Pi Machine is the stand out track, Rhythmic with a funky little bass and guitar line (think of a Jazzier version of Queen's 'Another One bites the Dust') over vinyl noise effects, buzzy lead mono-synth melody with some Trautonium effects (the lead probably comes from the Trautonium is places). It also has some Vocoder stuff on it...a bit like Radio-Activity from Kraftwerk only more abstract

the rest is Solid, obviously more live and raw, without being a classic IMHO.

Rather like the last track as well False Decodings as well :)

the sleeve notes also list Pete's and David's equipment

Recommended FAX discs:

Pete Namlook & Karl Berger-Polytime (PK 08/140)

Pete Namlook & Rob Gordon-Ozoona (PW 30)

Again a new face on FAX... the original founder of WARP Records and also one of the inventors of the Sheffield sound, Rob Gordon, a man with Jamaican roots but based in England.

During the collaboration with Pete Namlook, Rob was the one to contruct the beats, so that Pete formed his chords, bass and melody reacting to them. A rather different record for FAX, very melodic and moving... true summer music.

On track 3, unexpectedly an additional composer (Mrs. Blackbird) joined in and sang along the chords and rhythms while sitting on the window sill... another surprise you might experience on track 4... but we won't tell too much, yet...

1 She Ship 11:24
2 Flat Pack 12.58
3 Blackbird Suite 17.41
4 The Hunt 11.22

Beats, Chords, Melodies & Bass

Nah...I remember seeing this site years ago, probably when FAX first had their website up. Useful, although I tend not to read reviews and just listen to as much as I can before I buy. Other people's ideas are interesting, but in the end you're not listening with their lugs ;)
