PETER BAUMANN, ROMANCE 76

Post by bigmoog »

BM has listened again to this l.p.

and i find it awesome still, eerie and classicaly challenging, it evokes the dante trilogy by 30 years, with its choral and orchestral codas, the seagull appears, drums..gong....mellotron....sequencer and fugue...for me the music is avant garde and distantly real, experimental and titanically cinematic, i never tire of the strangeness of this record.

in fact it is a classic, a hidden gem, overlooked yet special.

the greatest tangmusic solo album. it reminds me of TANGERINE DREAM

it must be listened to at least once, to appreciate the fact that peter was indeed, another genius

evocations of tangs 76-77 oh my, but so much more alien

i never tire of electronic music's geatest solo album.

opinion, yes, fact - god yes.

one of the greatest 'lost' EM discs of all time, from an artist who's true talent has 'by and large' been airbrushed out of EM's history...which is a shame.

Track 2 is great so simple yet so effective. Track 3 seems like a cross-breed of bits of 3am & Invisible Limts and rocks.

Side 2? Pretty different, bit more pink and damn good.
imho

I must give this a listen tonight. I don't think I've played it in a long while.

Might well do the same there Sparrow, as i need to remind myself just how good a classic, and hidden gem, as BM describes, this LP is really is?

I think Romance 76 and Transharmonic Nights are very good. I prefer the latter.

Two very fine discs from Herr Baumann. I always listen to side two of Romance '76 straight through. It's almost like a suite -- not unlike much of TD's output in the 1970s. A great album. So is Transharmonic Nights; best tracks on that one (to me, at any rate) are Chasing the Dream and The Third Site. Wonderful stuff.

I love Chasing The Dream (I wonder why  )

Can ANYONE explain why there are TWO versions of Meadow Of Infinity part 2? I only discovered by accident when I bought another LP a couple of years after release...

encoded within romance 76, is the whole point of tangmusic, the whole point

soundscapes for the soul and mind, deep distant yet awesome beauty in music, almost symphonic in its classical epicycles of sound, near metronomic totality in its to the point composition

i will be buried with zeit, rubycon and romance 76
