Picture Palace music - Somnambulistic Tunes

Post by Schulze »

Received an e-mail from Manikin Records this morning advising the following:

"New CD on Manikin Records:
Picture Palace music - Somnambulistic Tunes
MRCD 7081
Thorsten "Q" Quaeschning, Keyboarder at Tangerine Dream, one of the
world leading Electronic Music bands, is head of the Project "Picture
Palace music".
Main idea of the group is to reproduce the musical dynamic and
experiments of old "live" accompaniment for silent movies and to give
them a modern soundtrack with nowadays technical options. This shows
that the old silent movies are not "moldy": They are timeless and
fascinating! The music, which Thorsten "Q" Quaeschning has composed
inspired by the more than eighty years old silent movie is
outstanding. The seventeen powerfull tracks "Somnambulistic Tunes" are
a deep trip into a mystical world of sounds!
Releasedate: 1st July 2007"

I don't know anything about Thorston's other projects, but thought I'd post it anyway just incase it's of interest to anyone....
Be at one with the sequencing.....

Got the very last copy of this at the Astoria show and very good it is too. I'm hoping that this will be the first of many.

Hope not. I plan to pick it up in Frankfurt (at latest), although I wasn't too impressed with the mp3's he put on the website.

Unfortunately I bought this cd, - not my cup of tea, I think it's rather boring, can't get into it. Maybe it fits to the film which I haven't seen, but IMHO Thorsten seems to be more inspired when creating music with TD.... Just my opinion.

:D :D You have to take this at face value. It's a set of musical impressions to a film, which, I've certainly never seen. That's what PPM do. They create modern musical interpretations of old silent movies. This music can be dramatic, ambient, minimalistic, powerful, but, IT IS NOT TD. Thorsten is only a colleague of Edgar. he has a musical life outside of TD. So, do I like the album. Well, as a musical reference to Thorsten's repertoire, I find it both refreshing and intriguing :) :)
