TD & Hoenig - 300 MPH & 21 Minutes Into The Future

Post by Jon »

Is anyone here familiar with the Michael Hoenig compilation album featuring film scores like The Blob, Dark Skies, 9.5 Weeks, Contaminated Man and Above Suspicion??

I have seen cover scans of the CD.

Unfortunately, i don't know much about thoses soundtracks.
85$ seem a bit too much, except if you know that this is very good soundtracks. :)

The price is now 75 dollars...

Yes, it's still too much, but it's a very rare CD, almost impossible to find. I'm kind of curious about the music Hoenig wrote for some of these films.

I just received this album. It runs for 31 minutes and is called

300 MPH & 21 Minutes Into The Future.

It features two tracks by Tangerine Dream (Streethawk) and 9 tracks by Hoenig.

It is actually a cancelled album from the Ricochet Dream label, so it's extremely scarce. Hoenig's tracks are typical film music-sounding (suspense music) and not extremely interesting, but the Max Headroom main title was cool.

One track is called The Vertical Rotating Horizon (Live Edit). Does anyone know if this is in fact Hoenig playing live on Ricochet Gathering 2010?

The cover says:

Limited Edition: 222
For the 11th Ricochet Gathering, Berlin 2010, October 15 - 18 celebrating 40 years of Berlin School electronic music and 25 years of Streethawk and Max Headroom.

I used to have the Vertical Rotating Horizons track on a compilation from 1998.

and the CD you have is very scarce, possibly a pre-release version
before it was actually cancelled ?

Interesting album that Infinite Horizons. Do you know when and where Hoenig performed this live? was it written for the concert?

Yes, my CD must be some kind of pre-release, or a copy which leaked through before it was cancelled.

I found the comment from Vik Rek a few days ago...

Had a quick Google and found this on Groove.nl

Disc 2 track 1 Composed and performed by Michael Hoenig and Don Preston live at the Veri Hall, Tokyo on September 24, 1984

http://www.groove.nl/cd/5/53379.html

Can't find any other reference to this concert however....so don't know if it was written especially for the concert.
