Oh I agree....you only have to compare it to the relaxed atmosphere in Frankfurt
Cheers Andy, I wasn't able to go to Frankfurt but I was at the TD concert at Birmingham Sympony Hall in 1997 and it was so nice. 8)

looks fanatastic! Edgar?

seriously though, there are much better venues all over the place...BUT given the choice of missing TD cos a not good venue, then I choose music over dogma everytime. Roll on 2008!

I agree but it's nice to dream....

The Birmingham Town Hall has recently been redeveloped... it looks very different now to how I remember it. As everybody knows, TD played there in the early days. It's not as big as the Birmingham Sympony Hall.

Thanks timer, the Birmingham Town Hall was derelect for more than a decade! I often used to go to symphony concerts there when Sir Simon Rattle was the Principal Conductor and Artistic Adviser of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Can't imagine relaxing in the bar with a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio at the Arse-toria or SBE.

Also I'm getting old and really enjoyed sitting down during the show at the Alte Oper. So I'd prefer the next venue in the UK to have seating. Not too fussed where it is. London is OK, Birmingham is pretty good (be it the Symphony Hall, the Town Hall, the NIA .....but not the NEC  ) and Cardiff has several good venues. I'd like it to be Bristol, can't think why, but have to admit we haven't got any competitive venues.

St David's Hall is superb, seen a few bands there recently and it's near perfect. Every one gets a great view and the acoustics are great.

As for the Colston Hall, the last I heard it was closed for much needed refurbishment. My brother did a little web-design work for the Colston Hall and they just aren't interested in being a Rock venue. The Hippodromes still there, saw TD there once, and it's still a good venue but they seem more interested in Opera and Pantos.
