Acoustic Drum played by Humans or Drum Computers, I think it depends on the track and to the feeling one wants to give in the music (or what the track requires).
Now, I can't imagine the early 80's tracks without those killer & primitive sounds of Chris custom Drum Computer (nothing sounds like this).......
.......and think about it, it was an unimpressive simple white rack device.......Well Iris is way much better looking

Many years ago I would have said electronic percussion was the only thing for TD but having seen Iris in action a few times over the last couple of years I would say human is more than acceptable. Anyone who saw her performance at the Astoria earlier this year couldn't fail to be impressed and she was pretty spectacular at the Alte Oper as well, one of the hightlights for me in fact.

.... Emil Hachfeld's performance in 1997 was pretty cool as well.

.... now if only I could work out how to vote.

Personally, I think she get's better with every performance, but did she really play those tubular bells in Frankfurt?

I don't think a TD gig would be the same without her. The percussion was a bit OTT for my tastes at SBE 2005, but was balanced better at this year's Astoria gig. Judging by the DVD's I've seen of the gigs I've missed, she was on top form!

I agree, she should be put much louder in the audio mix of the dvd's, or they could just make live albums. She is excellent live!

Not only is she an accomplished musician, her enthusiasm is infectious. This seems to be transmitted to the other artists on stage and the audience.
