Hi

Ryanair's website do a free city guide download. While not in depth it gives a few pointers e.g. Frankfurt Hahn airport is 68 miles and 1 hour 45 minutes away from Frankfurt. I'd try Frankfurt Main instead.

That's the drawback with budget airlines - the airports they use are zillions of miles from the destination city

Mind you the airport at Frankfurt am Main can be a right pain. I once spent over an hour in a plane on the tarmac waiting for the American Airforce, who share the airport, to put zillions of Hercules transports into the air. We just sat there watching one after another take off. Apparently the military have priority.

Another time the ground staff at Frankfurt managed to put all the bags from a Gatwick flight on to a plane for Zurich but not the other way around. So our plane was empty of baggage and the Zurich flight had two lots.

Which reminds me of the 'lost' taxying British Airways Trident that was chatting to the Frankfurt air traffic controller.

If anyone has a few pangs of hunger when in the Frankfurt area you could do worse than check out this place....

Healthy food, sensible portions and reasonable prices

For anybody thinking of travelling to Germany from the UK, don't forget to checkout the Hotel reviews on Expedia or Tripadvisor.com 'before' you book. You can also check to see how close to the venue your hotel is. Points that might be worth checking include how close to the station you are and that this area of Frankfurt is in/near the red light district (I'm not trying to put people off, it's just an aspect of any city you should know about, especially if you're travelling alone late at night and/or with kids in tow)
