Pre Concert Fan Meet in Edinburgh

Post by EDWEIRDO »

Thought I may as well start this thread for those wishing a pre concert fan meet on the 2nd of November. I don't mind organising a venue and compiling the list, if that's ok with everyone.

Anyone who wishes to attend the pre concert fan meet can e-mail me at:
wearecreosote@fsmail.net

I shall investigate worthy Inns for the purpose and post recommendations.

Hoots Mon!!

Please remember to reply using 'Aye' and 'Naw'. It's also a good idea to quote Billy Connolly gags and eat shortbread during the interview.

HIM BM always welcome Norf of The Border

I just down from the Isle of Skye
I'm very big but I'm awful shy
All the lassies shout as I walk by,
"Edweirdo, Where's Your Trousers?"

Let the wind blow high and the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I go
All the lassies cry, "Hello!
Edweirdo, where's your trousers?"

I went to a fancy ball
It was slippery in the hall
I was afeared that I may fall
Because I nay had on trousers

I went down to London town
To have a little fun in the underground
All the Ladies turned their heads around, saying,
"Edweirdo, where's your trousers?"

We went to the Water Rats Big Mac & I
and drank the bar totally dry
Big Mac had a snooze & i bought a pie
"Edweirdo,where's your trousers?

The lassies love me every one
But they must catch me if they can
You canna put the breeks on a highland man, saying,
"Edweirdo, where's your trousers?"
RIP Edgar. I am going to miss you.

Sugestion for a historic, music-free real-ale pub with a whisky selection that will astound you:

Not far but not particularly near the Caley.

Nearer - Bannermans, a well known music bar:

The Cannons Gait on the High St has a basement bar that can be taken by groups. Don't have a number for them just now.

Dead cheap nosh - Snax/Snacks IIRC. Basic fry-up stuff, cheap & filling. No pretentions, seats rond the corner of the shop rather than a sit-down cafe. They also do sandwiches/filled rolls in the week. Staff IME are usually chatty Australian Backpacker types, making a few quid to continue their travels.

Here:

There is usually a board with directions in the small square between Register House & the BK on the other side. Alternatively, turn left up the grim-looking lane at the Pret/Coffee Republic type place (reddish/shiny front) you can see on the corner of St Andrew's Square & it is at the end of the lane.

Well, late-night munchie sessions are an integral part of TD meet-ups, we need to have that angle covered too. For all pockets! :D

was in the Guildford Arms (Just round the corner) on sat - OK boozer too. Full of pretty ladies dressed as pirates - Arrrrrhh! :)

Also a place called The Pear Tree, which was busy but excellent - Nice beer garden & some decent punk on the sounds but that is probably way too far away for consideration?
