Post by prophetfive »

:D :D OK guys, thinking caps on. Why has Iris got a set of large tubular bells, which she never plays (see stage rig, ONIS DVD)

Just done a search on Codotronic drums - nothing ! Must be a specialist instrumentation.

TD designed them and trade marked them, they were used to trigger electronic sounds, (perhaps even hybrid acoustic and EM sounds), TD used them several times especially on the 1997 European and UK tours when they were played to perfection by Emil Hachfeld. I still remember the short drum solo, (complete with synth percussion and notes) that he played at the SBE, brilliant!

:D :D Exclusive to TD I suspect, Tim. You'd still expect Iris to have some sort of interface with the "Bells", unless they're remotely triggered.

:D :D That seems to now be reduced to two units in Iris's setup. She seems to use a deep tom tom preset on the inner pad and a snare on the outer one.

Must agree Andy - Emil was a great percusionist and really shone during those shows - awesome. 8)

im sure that the Codotronic drums are trademarked by TD and even more interesting is the V-Drums made by Roland. I have a catalogue from Roland of these drums and one model (set) are called the TD-V Drums.
Another odd thing is that on some of the more recent live dvds, the 'brand' names on the keyboards have black masking tape over them. (one of the uk shows i believe) but the others, no tape covering the names. TD dont really seem to Endorse any keyboard makers like they used to when around 86/88 that Atari were mentioned lots.

I think it was because they got their fingers burned and were taken to court by a keyboard company i'm sure Mr King would know more
