Tonight's The Night (1987)

Post by Jon »

This TV movie directed by Bobby Roth is now on youtube. I may have to see it, because I'm curious about TD's score.

Did anyone here ever hear any of the music from this film? I guess it was one of the last things Franke did in TD.

No, never heard of the movie and didn't know that TD did the score.

Just skimmed through the video and it seems there's a lot of pop music in the nightclub/disco scenes of the film (which goes on for a long time)

Will have to listen properly (be hard, coz the quality isn't great - VHS copy converted to YT)

If I have time this week, I'll watch the movie. It's the only one of Roth's with a TD score that I've not heard.

Same here, the only Roth/TD-score I had not heard.

I actually just watched the movie. Really shallow stuff, I have to say.

I guess there were about 15 minutes of score in the film. Good work by TD, some of it reminded me of Heartbreakers, while other scenes had hints of Near Dark, and even those funky 21st Century Common Man tracks from Tyger. All of it very melodic. A pity there is no soundtrack, but I guess a soundtrack had to me mixed with those corny Billy Vera songs to get enogh material on it.

Here starts a scene with some good music:

I interviewed Bobby Roth a few years ago, and he said that Franke was the only TD-member being present when Roth went to Berlin to hear the score. Edgar was in Vienna working on another project.

Here is a guy who has made his own CDR featuring some stuff from Tonight's The Night:
