Atem and Alpha Centauri in Quad?

Post by multivit72 »

I've just seen Quadrophonic copies of these two albums floating around the net. I vaguely remember this being a big debate, but - were these albums ever released in a Quad-version?

Definately not.
TD recorded at Dierks Studios (Alpha Centauri in 1971 and Atem December/January 1973). Dieter Dierks got his first Quad-Recording Gear in Summer 1973. Both albums never were remixed.

thanks for the info. They claim the sources are quad encoded CDs, but where would these come from?

On the backside of the Atem album is printed in german "Quadrophonische Produktion - Nur Stereo abspielbar".
I think many people who don't speak german think, this must be SQ encoded (and therefor any CD-reissue still is SQ-encoded).
But translated it says "Quadraphonic Production - only playable Stereo".

There also exist some Doublealbum reissues of Alpha Centauri/Atem with the same phrase.
