One interesting composition mystery is 'Song of the Whale', which Paul Haslinger claimed he wrote BEFORE he joined TD and presented to them, only to see Edgar and Chris take the credit for it.

His full name is Hans Peter Baumann... correct me if I'm wrong.. Yes, apparently he dropped the Hans part in 1973 (though he was already using just Peter on Zeit in 1972). So the question is, who decided to drop the Peter and resurrect the Hans for this new CD set? Furthermore will a...

At last Virgin have realized that Johannes Schmoelling and not Peter Baumann co-composed 'Tangram'. But now, who is this 'Hans Baumann' credited as co-writing 'Encore'? Oh dear! Will they ever get it right.

Does anyone know if a recording of the afternoon show at the Dominion has ever surfaced? It would be interesting to compare the performance with the evening one.

I dug out my T-Shirt from the 1986 UK Tour the other week. I was surprised to see how good the condition of it is. I'll probably put it on ebay before long, but it won't be a silly price like this one.

One exception was 'Poland', which lists instruments. See the 'What instruments?' thread.

It was only up to 'Cyclone' (1978) that TD listed the individual instruments used on each album. After this, the sleeve notes just read 'keyboards', 'synthesizers' etc.

I think it was Edgar who said that the history of Tangerine Dream is a history of the synthesizer. He is quite right.

Would there be a point of TD doing a Christmas carols album from an artistic point of view? I’m struggling to imagine what Edgar would say was the motivation for such a project. Surely, it would only be seen as a blatant commercial exercise and TD’s critics would have field day. I doubt whether Asda...

The gorilla suits go back earlier than 1981. At Hammersmith Odeon in 1978, several "gorillas" stormed onto the stage (from the audience if I remember correctly) at the beginning of the encore (nearly knocking over Franke's modular system which wobbled very precariously) to 'The Muppets' th...

Calling this re-issue 'Poland - the Expanded Edition' is very misleading. All they are doing is re-issuing the album as it was in the first place. The 'Expanded' title implies that buyers will receive something extra. More accurately it should've been called 'Poland - the Original Edition'. It will ...

Interesting that there's a seller on ebay with a quantity of Royal Albert Hall 1975 CDs - PART 1 ONLY from Bootleg Box Set Vol. 1. Selling for £1.99.

What's the betting that these are all reject first pressings with 13 minutes missing?

'Logos' is superb, but I've always wondered why the dry production with no hall ambience microphones for most of the recording. Compare this to audience recordings from the same tour or Royal Albert Hall 1975 which magnificently brings to life the hall acoustics.
