Re: What do you think / wish: is this the end of TD?

Over the past 45 years great musicians joined the band, and each brought great novel ideas, and through collaborative hard work, the band evolved constantly and achieved the great status that we all know about. But at the core, it was always Edgar who cemented those ideas and innovations and manage...

Re: What do you think / wish: is this the end of TD?

I'm following this (inevitable) discussion with interest and think numerous good points are being made. But a lot of is speculation, of course, and there will always be some people who would wish TD to carry on as an ongoing creative band, even without Edgar. I am very much in agreement with what Je...

Re: Big news from Peter Baumann

To me, any line-up which may contain Baumann, Schmoelling or Jerome is more Tangerine Dream than Q/Schnauss alone. Maybe it was Edgar's last wish and he wanted Baumann to finalize TD. He never would have asked CF to do this, so PB is the right person. That's a good speculation, and I was thinking t...

Re: Big news from Peter Baumann

Wow, that is a curveball. Never would have anticipated that. Still, Baumann and Froese had kept in touch, and the former did work on some unreleased music (The Blue Room) with Haslinger when he was head of Private Music in the early 1990s. I'm also reminded of the fact that I never would have predic...

Re: What do you think / wish: is this the end of TD?

My instinct is just to wait patiently and see. We are all fans and naturally curious about what the future holds, and speculation about what will happen from now on is inevitable. But I do feel, as others have commented, that now is not the time for such discussions, and I doubt whether those who we...

Re: The News About Edgar

In Memorium: Edgar Froese (1944-2015) I found out the sad news on Saturday via an email from Compact Disc Services in Scotland. Since then I have listened with a sense of poignancy to some of Edgar's greatest music, both with Tangerine Dream and his solo work. His passing has come as a shock to me ...

Re: Jerome

I wondered about this as well. I think it may be a private joke of Jerome's to call the track that. As it's an outtake from the first Dream Mixes album, did he give this piece the title "Comfortably Numb" back in the early 1990s I wonder?

Re: Favourite Edgar Froese guitar solo

It's brief but I find it very effective: Edgar's guitar solo on "Shop Territory" from the FIRESTARTER soundtrack.

Re: Jerome

Just some thoughts on Orange Sized Dreams, for those interested.... Have listened to this a few times now. It's a mixed bag of rearranged/remixed familar and never-before-heard pieces from Jerome's early years with Tangerine Dream. Backstreet Hero and 220 Volt Live are great tracks that I've always ...

Re: Jerome

The new EP and Orange Sized Dreams have arrived here from CDS. First listen of the EP and I can say immediately I like it a lot. Strong, vibrant sound and nicely in keeping with Jerome's previous EP material. The first track #! Shebang has a great energy to it and really rocks. I imagine I'll be hea...

Re: Jerome

I guess Jerome is less "commercial" now. I agree that Jerome's music has gotten less exciting lately. His best solo album is still the first one Neptunes IMHO, with many strong melodies. Far Side Of The Face and Cases Of Recurrence are weaker efforts. He doesn't seem to know exactly where...
