As a tribute to Edgar Froese (RIP)

I think every effort should be made to bring his autobiography to print, in different languages (for me, English), and in as good an edition (quality wise) and with as large a distribution (internationally) as possible. A possible addition to the book, without altering Edgar's book in the slightest ...

Thanks for the replies, guys. Yes, I suspect I might be underwhelmed by a recent TD dvd judging by some live clips I've seen. I think I agree with BigMoon: the best TD dvd is the one is the head of the listener, and cds are sufficient for that! Maybe I should have thought along the lines of the best...

Which concert DVD would you recommend?

Of late, I've been searching quite a bit for interesting later TD releases (I have all their ones up to 1988). Some, like Quinoa, Mars Polaris, Jeanne d'Arc & Angel from the West Window, are really good albums, imho. I'm glad I got them. Others, like Views from a Red Train or the Hiroshima serie...

I picked up Force Majeure & Exit on cd, not as the 1995 remasters. I think the sound quality would probably be better as remasters. I'm not sure if that's the case for other albums. I picked up the first Virgin years box set just to get Cyclone on cd. Then, a few months later, the Cyclone album ...

A thought on Poland: I first heard this through a video of concert footage on youtube and I thought it sounded great. On the cd I got, though, the music sounded less lively or 'alive', maybe due to the sound having been compressed? That often happens with cd remastering.

Oops, it seems my throwaway remark displeased some. To me Underwater Sunlight does sound like a change of direction for the band in that it sounds like very conventional band music, like what is usually referred to as 'AOR', which doesn't necessarily mean its poor. Rather than creative/imaginative/u...

Thanks for the replies. I'm not at all thrilled with the Enchanting Nature cd, so although I like the London Concert & Klemania cds, I don't think I'll look for Pacific Coast Highway.

TDs use of sequencers: past and present

I was listening to Chris Franke's London concert this morning and a thought came to me about TDs use of sequencers. In Franke's days in the band, the sequencers were often used to provide not just a bass line but also melody, harmony, "pulse" (beat) and formed a basis for the music all by ...

Thanks for the advice guys. Interesting points Flashpoint made about sound quality of reissues etc. I've wondered about this a few times. Although I've only known TDs music for the last 18 months or so (I already have most of their albums), it seems to me that the reissues (e.g. the 'definitive coll...

Thanks, Jon.

It's difficult to tell though, even from that link, which tracks are repeated. It seems like some have been renamed too, just to make things complicated!

Rare TD Soundtracks?

Okay: I'm a fan of TD's recorded output from 1974-87. I know that in the early 80s TD did various soundtrack albums that now seem to be d'eleted, except for Thief, which is on Virgin, and then the Risky Business thing (3 tracks, or something, on a compilation). I think Thief is pretty good: it sound...

Green Desert/Pergamon

I wasn't going to, but I got the 'Green Desert' reissue recently. I liked the title track, I have to say. It has a prog rock/fusion vibe to it that I wouldn't have thought TD capable of after having gone all bland AOR with Underwater Sunlight. Is it true Pergamon is about to be re-released? I think ...

I got Klemania recently. I thought it pretty good. In fact, it sounded to me like what a Tangerine Dream album might have been expected to sound like, had they not ended the tradition of long, experimental suites.

Klaus Schulze: Audentity

I am amazed: I have found a Klaus Schulze album that I like

Audentity is a goodie, partly I think because Klaus has teamed up with three other musicians. Unfortunately, I think his solo albums generally sound like he could always do with someone else there to bounce his ideas off.

Chris Franke - Enchanting Nature = P.C.H.?

Hi,
I picked up Chris Franke's Enchanting Nature album. I've read somewhere that this is the same album as his Pacific Coast Highway album. Is this true? Can somebody confirm this? And if there is a difference, what is it?
