Re: Klaus Schulze

Always loved the trips, regardless, and I was upset for many years when the WORKS series was not available, and in it was some material that was absolutely his best and prettiest, even if different and with others experimenting and living their way through long pieces. It was disappointing then whe...

Re: Baumann & Haslinger - NEULAND

Not worthy of purchase, I'm afraid. Peter needs to make the follow-up to Machines of Desire.

Like Chris, Paul's post-TD output hasn't been very interesting.

Re: Baumann has left TD

Sad news. When I first heard that Baumann was returning, I nearly wept. I knew at that point the legacy would live on. I am in no way taking away anything from the talents and capabilities of the remaining members. It's just that having an element from TDs strongest creative period (in my opinion) ...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

I read somewhere that Edgar spoke favorably about Eddie Van Halen's guitar work in the late 80s or early 90s. If this is true, it provides some context for why he allowed Jerome and Zlatko to get away with such a heavy rock sound during that period. Jerome knew Zlatko from his school days in Switze...

Re: Baumann has left TD

No comments about this? A pity it didn't last. Here's a comment: I'm surprised the album isn't done. I honestly thought it was near completion or at the very least, a work in progress. The news suggests Peter left without contributing anything significant. I thought they were working off "sket...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

Didn't Edgar divulge in one interview that Jerome didn't really get on well with TQ when the latter became a member? That may partially explain why Jerome left when he did. Not sure if it was Edgar, but I don't see who else could have said it. But yes, Jerome and Thorsten didn't get along, at least...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

Yes, Jerome's use of the term exploitation is a curious one because, as I pointed out in a different thread, he's issued a compilation drawing on his early years as a member of Tangerine Dream. While he's careful to not explicitly use the name of the band on the cover, everyone knows where they hear...

Re: aged fanboys whining about the new album

As for Jerome ... in 15 years time, he will be in charge of the whole TD thing ... I think that by that time, he will come around and not be silly and ignore it, and not try to kill it, since it will be serious income compared to his own work! :) Perhaps J has already set the wheels in motion where...

Re: "I DREAM OF WIRES"

Absolutely ZERO mention of "the greats" such as TANGERINE DREAM, JEAN-MICHEL JARRE, VANGELIS, KRAFTWERK.....NONE OF THEM! Instead we get interviews and opinions of bandmembers from the likes of Erasure, Nine-Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and others. I am not in any way taking away from the abi...

Happy Birthday, Edgar!

Your superb guitar solo in "A Dali-esque Sleep Fuse" really sounds as though you're now playing above the clouds.

Re: Worst TD tracks

I just listened to these last week. I had completely forgotten how much of guitar-based album Tyranny of Beauty is. It's almost all guitar! That 's not a criticism, just an observation. The only tracks I would be likely to go back to, however, are "Catwalk" and "Stratosfear 95"....

Re: NEW EDGAR FROESE TRIBUTE ALBUM

He has quite some reputation, especially in the UK. So do some others that I'm not wholly certain are deserving of the hallowed tones with which they are discussed. The thing is, with so many imitators/emulators, there's bound to be stuff you do like and don't like. I like Arc, but they're not goin...

Re: NEW EDGAR FROESE TRIBUTE ALBUM

I sense something personal between Jenkins and project-elektronik.

I've heard a few of Jenkins' albums. Some of it's good, some of it's not. The good stuff was better than the output of a few other UK synth acts.
