Re: Mala Kunia
Are there many bands/composers with a broader and deeper canon of work? Just curious! I think not. Exactly one of the reasons why they should retire, IMO. There comes a time when you just can't invent anymore, no matter how many 'variables' you think you're giving to your art. Hate to say it but al...

Re: Mala Kunia
Well, ***sigh***, I hate I always have to be the "bad" review, but anyway, here it goes. I'm kidding a bit because this is not a bad album/cupdisc/EP/whatever-you-call-it. It goes from good to pretty good but nothing great and certainly I wouldn't qualify it as anything special or the &quo...

Re: need an **honest** opinion on TD plays TD
It's basically the newest TD line-up at the time (what was it, 2006?): that means Edgar Froese, Thorsten Quaeschning and Linda Spa, playing and re-recording selected pieces by Haslinger, Schmoelling, Baumann and even themselves. Sometimes Ralf Wadephul pops up a bit, too. The interesting thing about...

Re: New CupDisc
Please drop that already tiring and over-used new-agey electro/dance muzak style You've actually not heard much of the recent stuff, if you think that......... Sorcerer '14, The Castle, Chandra II, Starmus, even Josephine, they all have these poppish and somewhat new agey dance electro beats/tunes ...

Re: New CupDisc
Wow! TD is still as prolific releasing music as Stephen King is releasing books of whatever. Will this 'cupdisc' be as unremarkable as almost everything they've churned out in the last couple of years? We'll just have to wait and see, won't we? But I seriously hope not. I sincerely hope that this ne...

Re: Josephine The Mouse Singer
Nice cupdisc. Nothing classical and sometimes a bit recycled from (or "inspired by?") The Atomic Seasons and perhaps the previous Chandra II, even with little hints at the Sonic Poem Series, too, but pretty good overall. A. Corelli's La Folia is definitely a killer. Tracks like thes...

Re: Sphinx Lightning
I'm also in love with this album. My favorite track has to be the title track, "Hyperborea" itself. My second favorite is "Cinnamon Road". As much as I love "Sphinx Lightning", it kinda drags a bit and you're right about the ending. I believe most of that weak element i...

Re: Sorcerer 2014
CD 1 is surprisingly pretty good with the reworkings. I'm usually not so fond on reworkings, but in this case they're bearable. I still prefer the original, of course, although I've got to admit that this one has really nice digital touches and notes to die for, like on "The Mountain Road"...

Re: Near Dark
Never miss "Miracle Mile". It's one of the best suspense movies out there (so 80's but still quite good), and one of TD's best soundtracks.

Re: Chandra part two?
Chandra II. It may not be the most remarkable work by TD ever, but it's actually not a bad album, after all. I think it's slightly better than its predecessor in that it seemed to me that Chandra I sounded more like a rough draft in so many places. Not in this case. Chandra II's execution has been i...

Re: Favourite Edgar Froese guitar solo
There are a lot!! The ones I can think of right now are: The Seven Barriers. Insight (7th Teaching). Togetherness. In The Storm Of Serenity. Hunter Shot By A Yellow Rabbit. There's a track on the album Tangerine Tree Vol. 80 titled "Guitar Part Excerpt (Live UK 1990)", which is great. Fadi...

http://img11.nnm.me/9/6/f/8/2/96f822ef9dd98b682bf700733914db82_full.jpg Great album. Highly recommended!!! It will remind you of TD on a lot of spots. Has some lyrics, but only on 3 of the 10 tracks presented. Very melodic, but perhaps one of the most non-conventional albums out there in the music ...
